It explains how I comply with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), the DPA (Data Protection Act) [pre GDPR enforcement] and the PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations).

This policy will explain areas of this website that may affect your privacy and personal details, how I process, collect, manage and store those details and how your rights under the GDPR, DPA & PECR are adhered to. The DPA & GDPR May 2018

This website complies with the DPA (Data Protection Act 1998) and already complies with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) which comes into effect from May 2018. I will update this policy accordingly after the completion of the UK’s exit from the European Union.

Contact & communication with me

Users contacting me through this website do so at their own discretion and provide any such personal details requested at their own risk. Your personal information is kept private and stored securely until a time it is no longer required or has no use. I may collect the following information from you: Your name, contact information (including phone number and email address) demographic information (such as postcode, preferences and interests) and other information relevant to customer surveys, offers and your orders.

I require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a suitable service, as well as for internal record keeping. I may also use the information you provide me to improve my products and services. I do not store credit card information.

Email mailing list & marketing messages

I operate an email mailing list program, used to inform subscribers about products, services and/or news I supply/publish. My EMS (Email Marketing Service) provider is Mailchimp and you can read their privacy policy here – https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/

You can subscribe through an online automated double opt-in process. After filling in your details, a confirmation email will be sent to your email address from Mailchimp, which will be used to prove you, the owner of the e-mail address, have given authorisation to receive the newsletter. During registration, Mailchimp will also store the IP address of the computer system assigned by the Internet Service Provider (ISP) and used by you at the time of the registration, as well as the date and time of the registration. The collection of this data is necessary in order to understand the (possible) misuse of your e-mail address at a later date, and therefore serves the aim of the legal protection of the controller, Jane Massey.

The type and content of marketing messages you receive, and if it may contain third party content, is clearly outlined at the point of subscription.

Your personal details are collected, processed, managed and stored in accordance with the regulations named in ‘The Policy’ above. You can unsubscribe at any time through an automated online service, or if not available, other means as detailed in the footer of sent marketing messages. Once you have unsubscribed, your personal data will be deleted.

Email marketing messages may contain tracking beacons / tracked clickable links or similar server technologies in order to track your activity within email marketing messages. Where used, such marketing messages may record a range of subscriber data relating to engagement, geographic, demographics and already stored subscriber data.

Social media policy & usage

I adopt a Social Media Policy to ensure I conduct myself accordingly online. While I may have official profiles on social media platforms, users are advised to verify authenticity of such profiles before engaging with, or sharing information with such profiles. I will never ask for user passwords or personal details on social media platforms. Users are advised to conduct themselves appropriately when engaging with me on social media.

There may be instances where my website features social sharing buttons, which help share web content directly from web pages to the respective social media platforms. You use social sharing buttons at your own discretion and accept that doing so may publish content to your social media profile feed or page.

Controlling your personal information

I will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless I have your permission or are required by law to do so.

In accordance with my requirements under the Data Protection Act 1998, I will adopt appropriate security procedures to help prevent unauthorised access to your information.
